• Background and Extent of fundraising undertaken: Paddy Delap has been organizing a cycle for the Cancer Research a program of the Irish Cancer Society for the last 18 years. The event start's in Sligo town Co Sligo and ends in Letterkenny Co Donegal. The cycle is over 75 miles long from start to finish. This event has raised over €361K since the first cycle. Each year the number of participants that take part in the cycle has grow dramatically from 60 at the first cycle to over 200 in 2009.  Paddy is determinate to raise funds for Cancer Research for the Irish Cancer Society and build awareness of Cancer in his community.

• Distinctiveness of the effort: On the first Sunday of July each year Paddy has the whole of the community taking part in his cycle. Paddy not only has people cycling he also has people timing the cyclists, cheering them on. During this time Paddy has raised much needed funds for Cancer Research Ireland.

• Longevity: Paddy has been a volunteer for over 18 years and has made a tremendous impact to the Irish Cancer Society during that time.

• Innovation: Paddy's idea of a fundraiser is not a ground breaking idea, however what is ground breaking is the passion, effort, and determination that has made this event such a success in terms of raising funds, but also awareness.

• Leading by example: To host something for an extended period of time is remarkable. Paddy gives up a lot of his time to make this event a success every year. By Paddy being involved for 18 years with this organization he is leading by example and setting the standard in his community.
