 Sooner Than Later - sponsor of Fundraiser of The Year For the fundraiser staff member who, in the view of their peers, has shown consistent excellence and best practice in achieving high quality fundraising through either their own efforts or their vision and strategy.
Sub-Categories
This award will be divided into two sub-categories:
- Fundraisers who work in small to medium organisations - defined by their organisation's annual income in 2008 being less than €500,000
- Fundraisers who work in medium to large organisations - defined by their organisation's annual income in 2008 being greater than €500,000.
EligibilityAnyone working as a paid staff fundraiser for any organisation, which has a CHY number may win this award i.e. organisations regarded as charitable by the Revenue Commissioners.
Nominations may be made by anyone except the nominee. They are most likely to be made by the Head of Fundraising, Chief Executive, Chair of the Board/management committee or a person of equivalent status in the charity for whom the nominee works, or from one of the nominee's peers in another charity.
Criteria specific to this category:- Only fundraisers working as paid staff with organisations are eligible. Fundraising consultants are ineligible.
- Fundraisers may be nominated by their own organisation or a peer in another organisation. They may not nominate themselves.
- The judges will award marks for innovation, work that can clearly be identifiable as the work of an individual and effectiveness in terms of funds raised and relationships developed.
The nomination should explain the context and background to the individual's nomination, and will include some or all of the following information:
- Demonstration of consistent excellence and significant results in fundraising
- Demonstration of a significant increase in the charity's fundraising performance over a period of time
- Demonstration of leadership which may be by virtue of position or example
- A commitment to pass on knowledge and skills to other fundraisers
- A record of successful fundraising volunteer management
- Ability to develop good teamwork
- Ability to develop the talents of others
- A record of engaging constituencies and relationships previously unconnected with the charity
In summary the nominee should be someone whose fundraising record sets an example to which others will aspire.
