 Sponsor of The Best Volunteer/Community Fundraiser This award recognises the enormous contribution made to fundraising throughout Ireland by volunteers. The Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year award is made to someone, or a team of people, who by their hard work, dedication and example have made a major difference to the charity or charities for whom they have worked. Note that this award is not intended for paid staff members of charities.
Eligibility
Any volunteer who by their efforts have enhanced the fundraising capacity and results of a charity. A volunteer is defined as someone who has worked for a charity without remuneration, or whose remuneration is so insignificant in the context of the time they have spent working for the charity as to be inconsequential. This award is not intended for those volunteer leaders who sit on Boards or development committees, but rather for those volunteers who work in their communities to raise funds for a particular charity or charities.
Nominations should be made either by the charity for whom the volunteer has worked, or by fellow volunteers at the charity, or some other person connected with the charity. They cannot be made by the nominee. A person can be nominated for work with just one charity over one year, or by more charities for work over up to three years, or any combination of the above. Sub-categories
This award will be divided into two sub-categories:
- Community Fundraiser of the Year -for volunteer fundraisers who have raised in total less than €100k in 2008.
- Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year -for volunteer fundraisers who have raised in total more than €100k in 2008.
Criteria specific to this category:- Nominations are possible from individuals or organisations but cannot be made by the nominee.
- This award is not intended for those volunteer leaders who sit on Boards or development committees, but rather for those volunteers who work in their communities to raise funds for a particular charity or charities.
- A person can be nominated for work with just one charity over one year, or by more charities for work over up to three years, or any combination of the above.
- The judges will award marks for engagement and involvement of a person within their community, effectiveness and sustainability.
Nominations are likely to include some or all of the following information:
- The background and "story" in respect of the nominee's work for the charity
- The nature and extent of the fundraising undertaken
- The significance and difference this fundraising has made to the organisation or a particular service or community
- Ways in which this contribution has already been recognised by any other body or agency
- The length of time the volunteer has been involved with the organisation
- Ways in which the volunteer has been an inspiration to others
